Each Sunday leading up to Christmas throughout December there will be readings, songs, and messages focused on the birth of Jesus. This year our theme is Hark the Herald and we will be looking at Bible passages that sparked the stanzas in the hymn by Charles Wesley. A couple of the stanzas are rarely sung, but they have important biblical truths that will help us take a look at the joy that springs from Jesus’ birth.
Also, a special Christmas choir will sing on Sunday, December 23rd at 10:30am along with a unique drama featured during the morning service.
Candle light service on Monday, December 24th at 4:00pm. Service is a blend of traditional singing, poignant readings, and a focus on Jesus.
Advent: a coming, an approach, an arrival. It is the season of anticipation and waiting that leads up to Christmas. Advent begins four Sundays before December 25th.
We stop during the season of Advent to re-enact the anticipation that was felt for thousands of years by God’s people as they longed for the coming of God’s salvation, Jesus. This year our Advent theme is centered on important biblical themes found in the hymn Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.
Things to expect during Advent: You will find our church overflowing with celebratory music from our congregation, young and old, every week. Make sure to come during Café Alliance (10:00am) to catch all of the special music.
Each Sunday during Advent we will light a candle during the service as we make a short meditation on biblical theme for that day. The regular sermon series takes a pause during this season as well for some focused time in the Word on the coming of Jesus into this world.
